I had a fear of flying for over 40 years until my three daughters persuaded me to seek help so that I could attend my middle daughter’s 50th birthday party at the beginning of August this year.
She and her family have lived in Guernsey for over 25 years and my husband and I have missed out on so many holidays there because I was terrified of getting on
planes. I would use any excuse to holiday in England and only went to Guernsey on rare occasions when I had absolutely no option! In the run up to the flights
I would be absolutely miserable with lack of sleep, panic attacks and stress. I would spend the whole flight gripping onto my husband’s arm with my eyes
tightly shut and I couldn’t sit anywhere near a window. Upon landing the relief was immense that we had landed safely but the following morning the panic
attacks started again about the return flight so the holidays were completely spoilt. In fact, my husband went several times on his own and had to make excuses
for me such as not being able to get the time off work etc!!
My son, daughter in law and granddaughter live in South Africa and when they married there 7 years ago I was so terrified of flying I was unable to attend the wedding - I had to watch the ceremony on Skype.
I came across Mind Over Matter when I googled fear of flying therapy in July and contacted Trevor. I’ll be quite honest that I was very sceptical and
only did it to appease my daughters! I had 5 sessions, the last one on the day before we flew. In the first session Trevor listened patiently to my story
and taught me some breathing exercises and tapping to overcome stress before I was hypnotised. To be honest, I didn’t even realise that I had been
hypnotised but I immediately felt a lot calmer and when I got home I felt sure that the sessions would work. After three sessions I was extremely calm and
no longer needed the breathing exercises or tapping. Trevor gave me a CD which I played each evening when I got into bed for 10 days before the flight
which I found very relaxing and I slept really well. I copied it to my phone so I could listen to it on the flight.
By the 5th session I was completely relaxed and looking forward to the flight the following day and my daughter’s party. I was amazed as I arrived at
the airport that I had no nerves at all and was very calm. I really enjoyed the flight and was able to look out of the window without being terrified.
There was no gripping on to my husband and I didn’t even need to listen to the CD! We had a lovely holiday and enjoyed the return flight too. Now
I know that I will be able to fly to South Africa to visit my son and his family which I am thrilled about.

I was very sceptical about the hypnotherapy having never tried it before but prior to a recent flight I had five sessions with Trevor.
I have flown before as I did not want my family to suffer due to my fears but it was always with a great deal of anxiety and nerves in the weeks leading up to a flight and ultimately I would end up a bag of nerves in the airport on the day of the flight. I even went to the extreme of checking the weather at the departure and arrival airports in the weeks leading up to the flight.
On the days leading up to the recent flights I did not have any feeling of anxiety or nerves or the urge to check the weather and indeed was quite looking forward to it. The flight went well with no nerves throughout and the same on the return flight and I am now looking forward to another couple of flights this year before the ultimate goal for me next year which is to fly to New York.
I am fresh from the two recent flights and keen now for the others to come round to prove to myself that I have finally come to terms with my anxiety about flying which I am 100% sure will be the case and all this was achieved with the help of Trevor.

Just to let you know that the hypno from last year worked a treat. I was able to go on holiday and enjoyed it from start to finish. I was not anxious enough to trigger any type of panic on the way there. I listened to the CD before I went on evenings leading up to it just to make sure!
On the return leg, we were delayed in the airport for a while and I could feel myself starting to feel anxious, it quickly dissipated. It helped listening to the CD the night before, but it was 99.9% better than the last time in any case.
Since the hols last year, I have not had any repeat performances of any anxiety or panic. I refer back to some of the sessions fondly and to be honest, I actually enjoyed it.
We have just booked flights for this year and it reminded me to email!

If you find yourself reading this testimonial, you are quite possibly like I was, at the end of your tether and desperate to find a way of overcoming a phobia of flying that has paralysed you with fear for many years, ruined your enjoyment of family holidays and restricted your travel plans to the point you would do whatever it took to avoid flying.
I decided to finally confront my phobia in 2013 after 25 years of anxiety and fear, I just didn´t want to feel like I did anymore. I had two young children and it upset me to think they would not only end up like me but I would try to avoid taking them on holidays at all costs. I did manage to fly, on average once a year for a family holiday or trip with my mates but from the point it was talked about, I simply switched off. I would not get involved in the planning if at all possible and my anxiety levels would spiral out of control from the moment I knew the trip was booked and that could be 6 months before a trip.
Lots of thinking time to terrorise myself with catastrophic images of a looming disaster and death. I found myself obsessing to the point I would watch the news just waiting to see a headline about a crash which would only back up what I knew about flying, it was a risk I should not take. It´s no exaggeration to say these thoughts would not disappear until I had returned home and the wheels of the plane touched the runway and I knew I was safe. Whilst I would tell myself that was it, I wouldn´t put myself through it again. I knew I was kidding myself.
I had thought about going to see a hypnotist before but I was sceptical to say the least it would work for me. I didn´t believe that I could actually think differently about something that had consumed my thoughts for so long. My partner had watched me suffer for many years and suggested I go see Trevor who she had heard of and found his website in an effort to help me. I was embarrassed to talk about my situation so it took time for me to pluck up the courage to make an appointment, which I finally did a few weeks prior to going on a family holiday and I was starting to panic.
From the moment I met Trevor, it was utter relief to finally talk openly about something that I had tried to hide for so long. Trevor explained to me about how hypnosis would work and it was nothing liked I had
imagined. I had clearly watched too much television. I managed to fit in 3 sessions with Trevor before I went away and during those sessions, I also found out something else about myself, I didn´t know how good it could feel to be relaxed to the point I simply did not want our sessions to end.
I didn´t have long to wait to see how I would feel about flying and on the morning of our flight from Leeds Bradford, I was still having mixed feelings but I wasn´t at my usual heightened state of anxiety.
As I sat on the plane, the pilot who had a Canadian accent (normally a trigger for me to panic) explained the plane didn´t
have an auxiliary power supply and he would have to start one engine from the runway to allow him to power up the second engine. Next the cabin crew started to prep for take-off, the drop down screens which were about to provide the safety briefing flickered for a couple of seconds and then went back up. We were told there were technical problems and the screens didn´t work. This chain of events under normal circumstances would have shaken me up badly, however, I sat in my seat, unruffled and unmoved. Something was clearly different for me and this was just the beginning. Within a few months of returning home, I had booked for me and my partner to go to Las Vegas for her 40th birthday. I booked the trip and in the lead up, it never occurred to me once I was risking my wellbeing. The trip came and went, I flew nearly 10 hours each way and did so complexly unfazed and there were no dramas. We are planning to go back in the next couple of years.
My message to you reading this is simple, don´t wait like I did. Take control of your life, you don´t have to endure this and with Trevor´s help you can start to overcome this like I did. It´s an amazing feeling to not live in dread of flying and I still find it amazing now that I can think about flying and it simply does not fluster me at any level. No more stress or anxiety, I can now look forward to a future of summer holidays with my family as often as we get away and no destination will ever be off limits for us

I have always been a nervous flyer, only previously managing with difficulty short flights
to Spain, so when the family decided on a holiday of a lifetime to Florida I knew I had to
sort the problem out or they would go without me.
I had four sessions with Trevor, (the last one being the night before the flight) and after
each I felt more relaxed and confident. Thanks to Trevors therapy I got on the plane
and actually relaxed and enjoyed the 9 hour flight and I can honestly say I would do it again
tomorrow. I felt a great sense of achievement on touching down in America and now
there is no stopping me!

It was a Monday evening at the beginning of November 2012 and to my amazement I found myself sitting calmly in the departure lounge of terminal 3 at Heathrow airport waiting for 9.15pm flight to Muscat, Oman..
I had not flown for 25 years and had no intention of ever doing so until my daughter moved with her husband and our 4 year old grandson to Muscat in 2011.
The chance to visit them was too tempting but the thought of flying really scared me. I was recommended to consult Trevor; it was with his help that I found myself at Heathrow. I had my MP3 player with the meditation music which Trevor had given me.
My husband and I had a reasonable flight and his hands were only slightly crushed, I had my music on all night.
I am so grateful to Trevor for his advice and help, for without it I would not have also flown to Dubai and back from Muscat. I would not have seen where my family live. Nor would I have ascended 124 floors (in a lift) in the highest free standing building in the world, The Burg al Khalifa, nor seen the mountains in Oman, spent a night at a desert camp and followed dolphins in a boat.
We are now looking forward to our 2013 holiday which we booked within 4 days of returning from Oman. It only involves a 9 hour flight to Calgary and an even longer one back from Seattle.

Having been frightened of flying for years and having my anxieties spoil every holiday I have ever had this year I decided to do something about it. Having been given Trevor?s name as a recommendation I made a booking. I was very sceptical about hypnotherapy and thought it wouldn?t work.
However I was determined to go ahead and had a total of 3 sessions. Trevor gave me some coping techniques to help me with my flying phobia to help me on the plane.
The night before the flight I was very anxious and had difficulty sleeping. When I got to the airport remarkably I felt strangely calm. When the time came for boarding and walking down tarmac to the plane I was usually hysterical and crying but I was fine. On the plane I remembered my exercises and coped with the take off with no problems. The flight seemed to go very quickly rather than dragging as it usually did. I even managed to look out of the window during the flight something I had never even dreamed of being able to do before and I also watched my daughter film the landing into Palma. I was so amazed and even my husband commented of the difference from last year and how calm I was and that I had coped well.
On the return journey however on the take off I noticed the plane turn right not long after take off and I started to panic. I remembered my coping mechanisms from Trevor and it took me about 10 minutes to calm down but once I had calmed down I was absolutely fine and the rest of the journey was uneventful and I even enjoyed the flight again.
I have now booked a longer flight next year to test the boundaries of a longer flight and I am looking forward to the challenge.
I would definitely recommend hypnotherapy to anyone with any phobias of flying (or any fear for that matter) and Trevor is so professional he came highly recommended to me and I am now passing that recommendation on for others.

I have never believed in hypnosis and never thought I could be hypnotised and if I´m honest only tried it because my dad persuaded me to as i was going on my honeymoon and we were going to be doing quite a lot of flying.
My biggest fear was taking off I hated it and would often cry with fear but you will be pleased to know that I was absolutely fine on takeoff on all the flights we took, I didn´t need the tapping exercises or anything it was a very calm and pleasant journey and the thought of getting on a plane and taking off no longer bothers me!
On our flight back from Bangkok we had 3 hours of horrendous turbulence, which was scary, even my other half was worried and I did use the tapping exercises then. I dread to think what I would have been like without the hypnotherapy!
My mum has even noticed a difference since coming to see you and her fear is a hundred times worse than mine!
So anyone thinking of trying this for any reason not just flying, I strongly advise you go for it. Trev makes you feel very comfortable and understands your fears and doesn´t make any false promises!

I just wanted to let you know that the hypnotherapy worked and my flight was absolutely fine! I still can´t actually believe it!
I was absolutely great until they called the flight ...it made my holiday so much easier and more enjoyableat which point I had an ever so slight feeling of unease but I did my breathing exercises and my tapping for a few moments and I felt fine again. On reflection I think some of the feeling was related to not knowing how I would feel, sort of like anticipation of the unknown really.
The worst part for me used to be when I was going down the tunnel to board the aircraft, but I was absolutely fine! And to be honest thereafter, the whole experience of flying was somewhat of a non event. I was a little overwhelmed to find that I was ok and confused as to what I´d found frightening before.
Thanks for all your help, it made my holiday so much easier and more enjoyable!
It´s now six months on and I´m still not scared of flying. I´ve since been to Berlin with easyjet and I have just returned from Dubai where we had to connect in Amsterdam. All went well and had a great holiday on both occasions. I´d never have thought it! Thank you so much
